Matt Genefaas is…

... an art director, photographer, graphic designer and an all-round creative enthusiast (among other things).

I thrive off working with and leading a team to success, creating an environment that motivates others to excel and challenges their creativity. All while creating a polished, high-quality and thoughtful final product.

I was fortunate enough to take the majority of 2018 and 2019 off to travel the world and focus on some integral parts of my own company. Before this, I found myself thriving in a role that challenged me and allowed me to take on a significant amount of managerial responsibilities where I truly found my passion.

As the deputy editor and art director for leading New Zealand based publication M2 Magazine, it was my responsibility to successfully lead the creative development of the M2 identity and to refresh its tone of voice and visual direction. In this role, I increased the publication's readership by 20% and created a proven structure of the content that has been followed since my departure due to its proven success.

To get to this point in my career I have worked tirelessly for seven years across multiple disciplines and have worked for some extremely powerful brands.

I have acquired an extensive range of management skills and other experience across a wide variety of different areas of business from my own experience as a business owner. These benefit me greatly on a day-to-day basis and I believe this experience is one of my greatest assets.

Interests…

... coffee, photography, making purchases decision based on good packaging, typography, travelling, binge-watching food-based video content and becoming overly confident with my ‘actual’ cooking abilities, spending multiple hours in international supermarkets marvelling at their assortment of sweet treats and bakery delicacies, eating (specifically, croissants), wow this seems to be mostly food-related... balance is key!
